冷蔵庫の残りごはん
とろとろ、ではなく
すっきりしあげたい

フライパンのトマトソース
+豚肉+ハバネロ酢+塩
+チーズくつくつきたら
ほうれん草とごはんを
加えいっきにからめる

深皿に盛り、ミョウガと
ごま油を、散らす

米(Riso)+最高(ottimo） なるほど

There's nothing easier than making a delicious meal
with minimum effort and very little cost
when there is left-over cooked rice in the fridge.
Be careful not to make it liguidy.

月見草の蜜-Bee Fly not Bee

夜明けの月見草/待宵草
蜂？と思いきや
どうやら、アブ
「虻蜂とらず」の......

そういわれれば
ほら、１対の翅
ハナアブはハエ、かぁ

Early morning on an evening-primrose flower,
a bee fly is drinking nectar.
They have hairless legs and only
two wings-'so easy' enough
to spot from bees.
Actually I didn't know that it's a fly.

Face IV-Basic Lines

見ているようで
見ていない、顔

一瞬とがった目
ふくらんだ小鼻
笑ったほっぺた

顔の記憶はしかし
あまりにも曖昧だ

Face sculpture can capture the basic lines in a human face
and hopefully portray the emotion surrounding it.
In fact I can get only a dim picture of a face.

水の流れと、岩の上に地衣類


河口湖でみかける、松に
へばりつくウメノキゴケ
とは違う、ことはわかる？？



地衣は、土づくりのスターターらしい。

The lichens penetrate the upper coat of the rock.

一度目のサヤ焼成で
外側に緋色が出たが
灰釉が溶けなかった

で、赤貝にかぶせ
酸化で再焼成した
やすり、で削って
フュージョン物語

I re-fired the bowl, which was once fired in saggar.
This time I put it upside down on sea shells.
The clay body and the shell fuse together in the glaze.

Everywhere it goes it leaves behind a stinking trail.
That's why it is such an unwanted animal.
But the colors are amazing.

石は束縛しない

When we label people, we put restrictions on
how we perceive them, as well as how they perceive themselves.
Rocks are different in that there is no interaction.
Labels just help me get to know them(not each other).

大滝村の断崖岩穴の看板
「縄文人住居跡神庭（kaniwa）洞窟」
村営グランドから道がある
らしい------気になるなぁ

上長瀞で、胡麻味噌ダレ「雪わりそば」
抹茶わらびもちつき・蜜で「氷」も楽しむ


河原で、石観察（蛇紋岩？）
レンガ鉄橋見あげると...あら！
「自然の博物館」で、埼玉の鉱物・岩石
「川下り」、水少なくこれぞ
「瀞---穏やかな水面」---No Thrill!

The geology of Nagatoro is typified by exposed terraces of chlorite schist.
I collected some seemingly serpentinite, metamorphic rock.

塗料、しめて7239円

This was made using scrap wood ten years ago.
Now it's time to retire. I'd like to say 'Thank you'.
I decided to make another one and
'bought' some wood---matsu(pine), sugi (cedar) .

濃厚な果肉感じる

I received some home grown tomatoes and vegetables.
They are infinitely more flavorful than anything you can buy.
Imagine the first bite into this fully-ripened fruit.

マットな青紫だった
40cmほどの長皿に
透明釉+乳濁釉+銅釉
で、絵を描き、焼いた
緑・青・白溶け合って
大好きなグラデーション
まずは、おいなりさん

This long plate was matt blue purple
for 7 years. I decided to re-fire it.
I applied clear, white, and green glazes
like painting with brushes.
This made the colors bleed into each other
and give a nice gradation.

最初に放精、続いて放卵.......

A seashell from Miyakojima island.

二度めの焼成をなんとか
サヴィアブしたどんぶり
直径 21cmx高さ7.5cm

窯の中段で焼いたが
釉薬が高台まで流れ
中は発泡してブクに

ちょいと危ないが、
さっそくおかず盛る

While the second firing,
the glazes fused nicely.
But they ran to the bottom outside
and bubbled in the center inside.
I carefully used it for dinner--salmon with vegetables.

On a bowl of steaming rice,
cooked tofu, minced pork, negi or scallion,
katsuobushi, or dried bonito shavings, and myoga.

I was driving down the south slope of Mt.Fuji.
WHAAAAAT! This egg-like building has swimming pools.

Butterflies usually fly away rapidly,
but this early morning I got very close.

なかなかに、微妙である
カリッサクッ厚さもグー

基本レシピはこれでよし
しかし焼き時間も微妙だ
なぜかいつも食感が違う、ふむ

This time I added some almond
and cocoa powder to my recipe.
Not too thick, not too sweet, not too soft....
Nothing beats homemade biscuits.

in front of my studio.
This is the first comer.
"Don't come closer or I'll have to go."

The face is ready to be fired.
It has a flat back which rests against the wall.
You can put some flower.
Imagine yellow dandelions are having a party

A folding loupe magnifier is always
in my pocket ready to use anywhere.
I put them in separate boxes, hoping

Bush warblers are singing much better now.

友だちのLさんが5㎝

皿に並べてチーズと焼いて

それに「Z」ではじまる
野菜だなんて、かっこい
一緒に思い出も食べている

I remember the time when I heard the name
"zucchini" for the first time.
A friend of mine in Seattle baked zucchini
with bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese.
Since then I always taste the memory, too.

夏の重ね焼き-Mille-Feuille Style

1.茄子を食べやすく切って炒め、
　グラタン皿に平らに並べる
2.豆腐を薄切りして茹で、のせる
3.豚ミンチを豆板醤とニンニク醤油で炒め、のせる
4.皿を傾け、豆腐から出た水分をとる（これはスープに）
5.薄切りチーズのせ、オーブントースターでとろっと焼く

Stir fry chopped eggplant (the bottom)
Boil tofu and drain(second layer)
Stir fry minced pork and add pickled garlic soy sauce
and tobanjan, or spicy bean paste.(third)
Remove excess water(this can be added to soup)
Put a sliced cheese on top and cook until it melts.

桑の実と釉流れ-Mulberry Jam & Glaze Run

小川のそばに桑の木
下の枝なら手が届く
熟した実を毎日20粒位
冷凍保存してジャム
ああ夏だな「つぶつぶ」

桑の実+甜菜糖+ハーブ酒+ブルーベリのシロップ+レモン

There is a mulberry tree near the river.
Some berries reached full ripeness every morning.
I hand picked them and stored in the freezer.
I finally cooked them with herb liquor, beet sugar, blueberry syrup and lemon.

なにしろ粘土は腐る
どころか、熟成する、し

降りてくるまで待てる、のだ

There is no hurry.
The organic bacteria-minerals interaction
gives the clay a high viscosity.
Bisque-fired pieces can wait until an idea of
glazing or firing comes to your mind.

冷凍庫から出しては
おいたものの......さて

カボチャを二つに割って
種を取り出したところで
そうだっ、詰めて蒸そう！！

皿に残った肉汁は
出汁醤油+中華スープ+チーズ
+ハーブミックス+豆板醤・味が
からんで、ごはんを入れた、うまー

染め付け深皿

It was only after I cut the pumpkin
into half that this recipe came to me.
The meat juice left in the bowl was
so savory I put some steaming rice....Yummy!

雨が降り続けて
いつまでも新緑
ぱぁっと明るい
胡瓜のみどり、と
石粒の原土の皿

Cold rain has been falling over
'fresh green' leaves of spring.
'Mizore' usually means grated daikon radish.
For dinner yesterday I put grated cucumber on
'Shime Saba' , or vinegar-pickled mackerel.
The plate I made with coarse clay collected during
a trip north looks happy too.

In winter I feel content just watching
the dancing flames in the woodstove.
All of a sudden I wanted to make a bowl
that makes you feel comfortable.

麦秋-Golden-Yellow Wheat

先週、東北道からみた麦畑
と、15年程前につくった麦皿

どういうわけか「麦の穂」
に馴染みがなく、むしろ
「あこがれ」に近いカタチ

那須の製粉所で地粉買う

Last week I saw the wheat field with a golden-yellow color in Tochigi.
Actually I have not been familiar with wheat farming,
although I bake bread and biscuits.
This plate I made about 15 years ago
shows my yearning for grain filled spikes.

福島長石 feldspar
ペタライト petalite
石灰石 limestone
炭酸リチウム lithium carbonate
炭酸バリウム barium carbonate
カオリン kaolinite
珪石 silica
酸化銅 copper oxide

いつものに比べると「深い」。
ペタライト（葉長石）だけのより、
福島長石（カリ長石）を加えたら、いい釉調
I replaced the lithium/feldspar in glazes with petalite.
