畑に残った、秋の野菜に
雪が消えて、芽が伸びる
とう立ち菜、甘くぬめる

The spout looks like
'Hyottoko lips', which
I was not aware of
when I made the bowl.

花うつわ「棚田」-Vase 'Tanada'

前につくった「土のかたち」が
みょうにうごめいて呼んでいる

手の平で包むとふぅっと、蘇る
着想の瞬間、そうだ「タナダ」

Crushed bottle glass melted
in the 'terraced paddy field'.

I see the clay form↑ I made before
wriggling, which brings me back to
when the idea flashed into my mind.
So, another Tanada, a vase for one flower.
あれからカエルやカタツムリ
もやってきて、「つながる」
棚田の一輪挿しつくっている

肉じゃがの皿- Oval Bowl for Niku-Jaga

薪ストーブの火が揺らめいてると
煮込みがしたくなっちゃうのよね

Winter comes back and the
flickering flame of the stove
tempts me to cook something
slowly.

こういう長皿、あんがいむずかしく
底をよーく締めないと、乾燥で浮く

楕円皿で肉じゃが、ちょっぴり冒険

'Oval' creates a little adventure, doesn't it?

そう名づけてくれた
京都のMさんから
「焼締めた肌合いが
　水をくぐらすと
　生き生きと
　蘇ってきました」
　と。

This 'yakishime' bowl
has gone to a friend,
who named it "Red
Nebula". Thanks!

花束の花うつわ-White Vase for Bouquet

それで歪めたんじゃないが
ふちのゆるやかな△のかど
花束がすーっとよりかかる

京都でいただいた芳しい春
チューリップの蕾ふくらむ

The flowers, a present from
a friend in Kyoto, are still
alive after almost one week.
The tulip bud is growing up
and blooming soon!

陶の割れ目を意図する-Beauty of Cracks

割れ目、が、好きだ
コンクリの壁や道も

だからカップの上に
もう一枚、ひび割れ
粘土板重ね、白化粧

I intended cracks to appear
on the surface of the cup
and so laid another sheet of clay,
which can shrink a little more.

The cup "Into the woods" has
left the nest at the show.
カップ「森へ」も、巣立ちしました。

およそ魚の形に
なったら粘土丸
めて唇、ぶちゅ
愉快がはじまる

After forming
a clay "pocket"
by folding and
pinching
the edges of the
slab together
and stuffing with
a wad of newspaper
for support, firstly
the lips were put,
which decide the
whole atmosphere.

丸いキャセロールでも
いいけれど、四角いと
重ねやすいこれは四段

This rectangular dish
is particularly convenient
to assemble lasagna layers.
From trip fatigue I didn't
eat even a bit, though.

ポートランドは札幌と同じ緯度
フキ便り届いた。移植して10年
やっとこさのお初です、という

An image sent from a friend,
who says it's the first Fuki-no-tou
since transplanted ten years ago.


「木は見えない時間に歩く」と
名づけたのは、金子みすず、の
「見えぬけれどもあるんだよ」から....

"A tree walks in the invisible time"
I titled this piece so as to remember
it is preparing, storing, and growing
when no one is looking.

whatever's on hand, but with
no cream.

火色ビードロ茶わん-Hi-iro Bidoro Bowl

灰釉が流れ、とどまって
しずくのようにガラス玉
土と釉、溶かし溶かされ

Hi-iro (fire-color), and
bidoro (glassy, crystalized
green ash glaze) are resulted
from an intimate interaction
of clay and glaze.

Sagger fired with rice husks
and sea shells.

アニミストでもある。

不思議なんだが、どうも粘土を
にぎった瞬間に、「それ」は形
を悟り、「やぁ」とやってくる

Clay, once shaped or
even as a lump in hands,
begins to breathe, it seems.

Our new coffee machine
has two nozzles so as to
brew two cups of espresso.

ふゆな、それとも、とうな？

青臭さはタイムやオリーブ油
でおさえ、あつあつひゅるン

As the leaves tasted too “green” ,
I added a dash of powdered
thyme and some olive oil.

When clay is transformed

during the firing process,
I feel something is lost.
