出かける前に焼いた
窯をあけたらひょい！

I had fired my kiln just
before I left for Tokyo.

鼻の穴に、ドロマイト
ピンク施釉したのだが？

I wanted the sculpture
to appear light as if it is
lifting up.

てびねりを得意とする

Quite a long time ago,
I bought this hand
pinched plate.
Without the crack,
I wouldn't have appreciated
the landscape!

引き剥がしたりしたい

Obscurely oval plate
with the edge torn off.
That's one of the things
I like to do with clay.

小鉢では盛りきらない

長いこと蕎麦猪口にも
してる朝顔歪み茶わん
に盛ってみた、鉄1％
のマット釉がやわらか

It's a refreshing blend of
crab and cucumber salad
seasoned with vinegar based
dressings.

ようやく「カバ」が
降りてきて、粘土を
ひとにぎり、新聞を
詰めてはまあるい線

この時点で、あ､カバ
といってもらえたので
しめしめ！

上部下面に吊し穴あけ
これで、終わりにした

のだったが、夜寝てて
はて、壁からつきでる
図が浮かび、考えてた

そうだっ、起き出して
ヘリを付け足し釘穴開
けて折った手拭いのせ！

I don't know why, but
'finally' the image of a
hippo has come to me!

旅の粘土・テスト焼成-Local Clay Test-fired

粘性も可塑性も少ない
から、薄くして貝殻に
かぶせ模様写し取った

素焼き、透明釉一吹き
道具土玉3点で支えて
いきなり焼いちゃう？

はたして、耐火性あり！


Nothing more excites me
than to open the kiln and
meet my pieces, especially
the ones made with clay
collected during my trip.


どうやらNZ南島西海岸は
「昔、金採掘で湧いたが
Westportから南へ30km
Charleston には石炭層の
下に粘土層2m」だという

肌理の粗い焼き物は
釉薬を施してもじわ
っと浸みてくるので
シリコン液入れ乾燥

中は空洞で一輪挿し
たんぽぽなんかどぉ？

Some might leak
over time. Yes,
they are hollow inside,
which would make a
single stem flower vase.

of rejection, it seems.
In fact, however, it works

Larger bowls can make a
serving of food appear
smaller, which gives a
luxurious feeling.

石粒をはねて
叩いて練って
半年寝かせれ
ば粘りが出る
んだろうけど
ともかく......


A handful of clay
collected during
the NZ trip should be
aged for half a year
or so. But I rushed
to shape it into
something.

Even while loading
my kiln, suddenly
an idea comes to me.
I dip a brush in yellow
glaze and let it drip.
