らなんか聞こえてくるゾッ

Arrange "hollow" in fallen twigs
covered with lichens on snow.

薄手のデニム、好きなのに
仕舞い込んでたのは、長袖
たくし上げるの面倒だから
ついでに雲あっちとこっち

I hate long sleeves, which restrict
my movement. But I like this soft denim.

Let's cut off! No more rolling up!
I sewed some clouds on
like appliqué as well.

大谷石を窯で焼く-Oya-ishi Stone Fired

その耐火性、から石窯
その柔らかさから建材

ほれっ、1230℃で膨張
It's expanded with heat.

ロウソク(candle)の炎、1400℃
溶岩(lava)、700℃～1200℃

都合のいい性質と悪い性質
「安全」は、綱渡りしてる

Convenient properties and
those that are inconvenient.
We are walking on a tightrope.

「流紋岩質凝灰岩=海底火山の噴出物
（日本列島の大半がまだ海中にあった新生代第三紀の前半）」

Many buildings using the pumice tuff
(called Oya-ishi) (without reinforcing rods)
collapsed during the earthquake last March.

直感の釉薬-Glazes Harmonize

釉がけほぼ終わった
最後の最後に、ふと
考えてもいなかった
釉薬が、降りてくる

Glazing is alomst finished,
and at the last moment,
I sometimes apply some glaze
I didn't have in mind (at all).

That's a hunch.

.一番いい靴は自分の足：
"No shoe fits my foot"

羊のしっぽの筋肉-Sheep Tail Muscles

はて、象のしっぽって
どんなんだっけ、土で
つくりながら考えこみ
富士サファリまで見に
いったものだが.........

羊はどうか？野生は見た
ことないが、「尻尾上げ
排泄する」らしいけれど
家畜は「尻尾の筋肉退化
し動かせず、糞尿で汚し
不衛生」で、切っちゃう

I once wondered about
'elephant's tail' and visited
Fuji Safari Park.
Now it's 'sheep'.

I have never seen a wild one,
which has tail muscles that
deflect faeces away from its body.

つい、飼われる環境の
イメージがちらつくが
青空の有精卵はケージ
の無精卵より栄養価が
高いのではないらしい
高いのは生産コスト？

Tamago(egg) kake(pour)
gohan(rice), for me, is a
nostalgic childhood dish.
A very fresh raw egg
on top of piping hot rice.

気分よく夕ごはんづくり

This sake cup, one of my
'sky and puff puff series',
can be a nice appetizer container.

空っぽの土ひつじ-Hollow Clay Sheep

空洞の三角錐に口鼻目の見当
つけたら新聞ちっさく丸めて
つめながら、粘土ちぎっては
薄くのばして貼り合わせてく
しだいに、胴体膨らんでって
（このひと、膨らみすぎだぁ）
空間遮るように生まれてくる

さらに麻布でのばした薄片を
いい加減に貼ってくと「毛」

Clay cannot be fired solid.
I repeat flattening a lump of clay,
stick together, stuffing it with
crumpled newspaper as I go.
Gradually, a shape appears
out of endless space.

太陽の黄色は、粉末の
バナジウムZrO2、を
石灰透明釉、に混ぜて
素焼作品に塗り本焼き

「高温に耐える酸化金属
　鉱物副産物として産出
　発見は18世紀メキシコ」

Powdered vanadium
oxide mixed with clear
glaze was applied for
the yellow of the sun.

ロール白菜と楕円丼-Roll Hakusai & Oval Bowl

キャベツと比べ、白菜は
剥がしやすく巻きやすい
二日ゆっくり煮込んでも
へたらず、食物繊維多い
かと思いきや、ほぼ同じ

The hakusai simmered slowly
for two days didn't fall apart.
I felt it has more dietary fiber
than cabbage. Well, they say
it's about the same!

こりゃ、軽いわ

顔料系色釉/白磁と名づけた釉


It may not be the 'desired'
handle position. But it is
unexpectedly easy to grasp.

めくると「黒化粧土」鬼板65+
大正黒35、三号石灰透明釉、と

たたら（粘土板）貼り合わせて
素焼後「鳥」塗り残し薄く施釉

I looked through one of my
old notebooks and found
some notes about this piece
of slab work; 8cmx9cm D/10cm H

I love watching the sky still now.

石とチョコレート-Rock into Chocolate?

伊勢原(神奈川）の大山に
登ってるときは砂岩かな？
砕いて焼いたら、まるで
富士山や八丈島の火山礫と同じ

「丹沢山地：南の海で1700～1200万年前に
　活発だった海底火山の噴出物からできている」

As climbing Mt.Ouyama, I thought
it must be sandstone.
The crushed/powdered rock melted
during firing. Oh, my!
It is said the rock was erupted from
a volcano, which was born in the southern sea.

このままで、釉薬
Maybe I should make
a clay-chocolate bar!

採取した土は

Locally collected clay

I like a subtle woody scent.

柿と楽茶わん-Persimmon & RAKU

ふかふか落ち葉から
あかい、のを選んで
柿と貝柱わさび和え

On pile of fluffy fallen leaves
I found a 'momiji' that would
go well with the Raku Bowl by
a French ceramicist.

Persimmon, scallops, carrot
and 'myouga' dressed with
sesame paste/soy sauce/
wasabi preserved in sake lees/
some finely chopped 'negi'

韓国粘土で甕づくり-Making Korean Clay Jar

骨壺、のことだが
見送る、のならきっと
骨灰かなにか壺にいれ
「そうか、もう君はいないのか」(城山三郎）
と、手の平で包み込む

Talking of 'urn',
if I were to send my love to heaven
i would probably put some bone/ash
in a tiny jar like this(7.5cm H).
As holding it in my palms,
i would say, "Oh, I almost forgot
that you are not here anymore."

You can tie a ribbon across the lid.

あとは、蒸すばかり
We are now ready to go
into the steamer.

ingredients:（how to）
wonton wrappers/ground pork/corn/
finely chopped 'negi' green onion/
grated ginger & carrot/
cooked rolled barley/oyster sauce/
sesame oil/salt/red pepper

Corn kernels frozen after boiled and
rubbed off the cobs with our thumbs.

It's a miracle that
people come to my clay class
and 'soon' get intimate with the clay.
The touch of the fingers shapes the clay,
which is gentle, not oppressive.
