白和えと火色皿-Tomato Shira-ae

お手伝いで、すり鉢おさえてたの
思い出す、人参と蒟蒻甘かったね

おぼろ豆腐くずしただけ甘くない

'Shira-ae', literally 'white-mix', is
(lightly cooked) vegetables dressed
with crumbled tofu, and ground
sesame seeds ......a bit sweet and
creamy. Traditionally, they use
a mortar and pestle.

電気窯、本焼き終えて
二日後、あれまぁ瓦解

棚板にくっついてない
ところをみると、多分
OFFにしてからだろう

てことは膨張（収縮）率の差？
生地（陶石+白木節）と透明釉

I suppose this is an example:
"Glazes that have a higher expansion
than the body also contract more on cooling."

オクラとカリフラワ
食べたかった、さて
パスタは耳たぶかな

I wanted to eat okra and
cauliflower in the fridge.
And for the color balance
some smoke salmon added.

サラダがメイン、だから
思いっきり大きなうつわ

木綿豆腐が一段目
和えた野菜二段目
炒めたじゃこが上

The salad piled high with
all of the favorites: tofu,
vegetables mixed with dressing
--wasabi/balsamic vinegar/
herb salt/olive oil, and stir-fried chirimen jako,
Italian parsley, and shiitake mushroom.

to fit in my electric kiln and
it also fits in our toaster oven.

おいなりさんと火色皿-Oinari-san

がぶり、分厚い油揚から
じゅわっ、と甘辛いつゆ

Oinari-san or Inari-zushi
is one of the food we have
been familiar with since childhood.
Aburage or tofu pockets are tofu
that has been deep fried.

活火山「北横岳」の石-Volcanic Rocks

登ったのは北横岳「南峰」（2473m）
噴火口跡の池？をはさみ「北峰」(2480m)
最近では800年前に溶岩噴出、って
まぁたいへん、ついこないだ、だっ！

輝石安山岩というが玄武岩っぽいのも

Mt. Kitayokodake we hiked on Monday
is the last remaining active volcano
in the Yatsugatake mountain range.
It last erupted 800 years ago.

アボカド和えと火色碗-Fire Color Bowl

焼成してひと月ほどしたら
あらっ、欠けたり削れたり

宮古島の粘土、でつくった
シーサーの足も崩れたっけ


珊瑚のかけら焼くと生石灰CaO
空気中の水分吸って消石灰Ca(OH)2
さらにCO2で硬化（炭酸化）CaCO3

Some parts are chipped, probably
because the clay contained some
broken bits of seashell or coral.

採取袋のメモでは、おそらく
ゴルナグラード(3089m)か？

私は小石や砕けた砂を眺めた

Tourists normally enjoy Gornergratbahn Glacier View.
I Did, but also collected tiny rocks and sand.

Left 左：after firing 焼成後

アルカリ（石灰岩？）の影響で
チョコのように（鉄分?）溶けた。

which turned out yummy.

スイスアルプスの石ころ-Swiss Alps Rocks

ストック二本の先見つめ
わずかな樹林帯を除けば
硬い石道、連日5-6時間
歩けば（サポーターした
膝も悲鳴）、石ころ堪能？

Walking 5-6 hours a day
was painful to my knees
while wearing supporters,
but satisfying to my interests.

衝突、隆起、恐ろしく「褶曲」
大地はいま、静かに見える、が

SchwarzseeからMatterhorn Trail
をツムット(Zmut)村に向かう途中

The folds and thrusts show
rocks are constantly subjected
to forces that tend to bend.

To create a face shape
I add small pieces of clay.

You can put dandelions,
or pour sake /dressing.

博物館の壺、思い出して(2006)

tea pot:14cm H / handle 9cm

This piece that just came out of my kiln
reminded me of the pots, which I saw at
Muceo de Cadiz, town founded
by the Phoenicians.

はえてるまか不思議
バリウムグリーンと
名づけた水色緑の釉

The homemade water
color green glaze shows
different shades.

ろうそくの炎もよし
水カップに花もよし

The spreading branches of
the Baobab look like roots
sticking up into the air.

焼成から二日後
窯から取り出し
たとたん、名前
が、ついた。


Two days after firing,
it was taken out of the kiln.
The title immediately
came to me.

きれいな丸じゃありません
It's not quite round,
which I don't care.

灼熱の灯油窯焚き- Kiln Firing

窯後部の穴、こうして
「炎」の状態を見ては
油量と送風量、微調整

バーナーに火のついた
新聞丸め放り込み着火
12時間かけて1240℃
のグラフラインを辿り
SK7完倒で練らし30分

It's a tough job to fire my manual
oil kiln on a hot summer day.
I turned it on at 2 in the morning, gradually increased oil and air
every half an hour, and turned off
at 3 in the afternoon.

"It is a chimpanzee, isn't it?"
another said.
なんのつもりでもなく
片口を、生き物にした、のだが

I just added a gargoyle spout.
