I've been wondering why it's
called 'marron', which is actually
chestnut (chataigne).

'Shira-ae', literally 'white-mix', is
(lightly cooked) vegetables dressed
with crumbled tofu, and ground
sesame seeds ......a bit sweet and
creamy. Traditionally, they use
a mortar and pestle.
The salad piled high with
all of the favorites: tofu,
vegetables mixed with dressing
--wasabi/balsamic vinegar/
herb salt/olive oil, and stir-fried chirimen jako,
Italian parsley, and shiitake mushroom.
