ゆるやかに広がる千枚田 が、浮かんできて........
へこみには 砕いた硝子を溶かそうか、な

Originally I came up with a title'wetland'.
I started building'something'with coils.
I suppose I am interested in embodying
emotions and feelings not actual shapes.

親子丼トロピカルバージョン- I Love Juicy Chicken

スープをとったアラも
軟骨も、好きだ、った が、
とんと、ごぶさた じゃぁ、
思いっきり、チキン モモ肉
と残り野菜(パプリカ+ピーマン
+熟々トマト+とうもろこし+ニンニク)
ジャッと炒めて、
割りおとした玉子が半生のうちに
皿に盛った黒米ごはんのうえに、
ひろげる
瓶に残った島唐辛子を刻んだ、ら、
きくぅっ!
スコッチ・ワンフィンガー牛乳わり

音は、Van Morrison

When alone, I love to cook juicy chicken thighs.
(My family doesn't like chicken very much.)
This improvised'chicken&egg'dinner tasted fulfilling
with a glass of Scotch in milk and
'Van Morrison'after a full day firing the kiln.

七輪崩壊、で火場を掘る-Digging Fire Pit

栗の皮を灰にしよう
と思ったら ほろ・ほろ、
珪藻土がくずれた
なにしろドライヤーで送風して
高温焼成をくりかえし、内壁は
ビードロ化してごつごつ、だった な、

わけで?穴をほってみた
丸い穴を石で囲むと、環状列石か
「火」を想うと、なんかわくわく

The old shichirin, a small open-topped grill,
collapsed finally.
I have fired a lot of clay pieces in it,
fanning the flames with a hair dryer.
The charcoal ash in the shichirin
is melted by the heat, and adheres
to the inside of the sichirin as well
as to the pieces.
I thanked it for serving me so faithfully
...so many fun discoveries!
I decided to dig a hole for firing.

秋の散歩・Gジャンとジーンズ-Outfitted for Autumn Walk

帰り道には、さすがに Wool Muffler も、
Denim Jacket も、いらないけど
森の朝は、キュンと冷たいのだ
90% デニム生活 これまでも、これからも
きっと このジージャン、ものすごく短いのに
ものすごくゆったりして、大好き
寺の境内の古着市で、みっけた

My denim life has been long.
The denim really comes to life and softens up quite a bit
with some wear and washing, and will fade.
I'm happy that we are aging together.

イカまるごとソースパスタ-Whole Squid Pasta Sauce

生烏賊一杯・どしよかなぁ と、考えて、
そうだソース!
フライパンにオリーブオイルあっためて
はねるので火をとめ、
ニンニクと酢漬唐辛子
そぉっとぬいたワタの輪切り
ぶちゅっと墨も絞って、
ザータル(ハーブミックス)+胡椒+塩・醤油少々
火をつけて、身の輪切りを軽く炒め、皿に
気持ち堅めのスパゲッティを軽く炒めて 皿に盛り、
こってり海の幸ソースをからめる

サラダ(レタス+生ワカメ+揚げ蓮根+ きんぴら---牛蒡+人参+芽ひじき+油揚げ) 梅赤ジソドレッシング
スープ(アサリ)
This IsFruits de la Mer”or'the taste of wholeness'.
I used every part of one squid except for the transparent backbone and hard beak.
The thick sauce tasted deep and rich. The best thing is that I know what's in it.

焼きおにぎり風ドライカレー-Cooked Rice into Crispy Crust

カリッ、と、モチモチ+パラパラ
なんとも愉しい、食感
きょうはドライカレー、と思った瞬間
そうだ、あれをやってみよっ!「
冷やごはんに溶き玉子をまぜこんで焼く
油をしいた鉄鍋に、
玉子(+きんぴらのみじん切り)ごはんを広げる
---まっ、ピザのように 残りカレーをトッピング・
蓋をして ごはんが、コンガリしてきたら、
デッキあっガリー
玉子って、ごはん粒を、「くっつける+ほぐす」

I was going to make'dry curry',
which is a sort of fried rice with curry flavor.
All of a sudden I came up with a new recipe.
It's supposed to be something like 'yaki onigiri
or grilled rice ball'plus'curried rice.'
The point is to mix cold cooked rice with well beaten eggs.
Spread it out flat in a lightly greased frying pan and place over a low heat.
It's amazing!
The rice turns slightly sticky as well as crispy.

いったん袖を通すと
体温と湿り気を
どんどんたくわえて、
いよいよ、よれよれ
その一枚のブラウスは
すっかり、私のことば、だ

Once you put your arms through
the sleeves, a blouse will retain body warmth
and absorb moisture until it looks old, worn,
faded and soft.
It has become your 'language'.

セント・アイヴスのリーチ窯-Leach's Kiln in St. Ives

鉄道で、London(Paddington) から
西へ420km....St.Erth 経由で St.Ives
まさにLand's End/地の果て (2005)
大西洋をみおろす、丘だらけの、こじんまりした町

Bernard Leach の登り窯、は、もぬけのから、だった
そうそう、ホテルの庭ではがき書いてたら、
オーナーが、 「リーチ窯はどうでしたか?」と。
リーチの思想や再建にとりくむ人たちの話など、おしゃべり。
1920年に開窯した工房、また動き始めたようだ。

大粒結晶の花崗岩のかけらにぎりしめ、
---海へと 坂をくだっていったっけ

They say the disused Japanese wood-burning climbing kiln
has finally been repaired.
The studio was deserted except for the lichen covered stones in 2005.
I remember walking down the hill toward the sea with a small piece of granite
in my hand and talking about the fundraising effort with the hotel owner .

ガラス扉の古本箱-Old Beloved Bookcase with Glass Doors

うちへきたときは、もう ポンコツだった、
んで 蝶つがいのネジ、とか
棚板をとりかえたりした
それでもがちゃがちゃ ぎしぎし、
音がする、ので 扉も、引き出しも、
半開き 大皿やワインを寝かせてる
だんだん、もっと、好き その気持ち、
なんていったら いいのかなぁ、
「こんな感じ」なんだ、と ひとり、
かたつむり

I have a very very old bookcase.
It was already very old when it came
to my house a long time ago. I fixed the shelves and hinges.
The doors and drawers squeak, and so I keep them half open.
I like it more than before.

Clay Piece: 15 cm in height
Not fired yet The thickness is uneven and the shape is deformed.
I sort of let the clay turn into whatever it pleased to.
A snail on the shelf says,The doors are open!"

粉ふきポテトサラダ+メンチカツ-Potato with Minced Meat Cutlets

イタリア食堂のサラダ ポテトが、いばってた
マッシュと違って、ほくほく で、
チンして皮をむき 鍋に入れ、
酢を垂らし 弱火でころころ粉をふかせた
メンチカツは、薄くして、両面を焼いた
中身は、肉詰めピーマンの残り(牛ミンチ
+押し麦+芽ひじき.+卵+パン粉)
衣の油が軽くて、カリッ

When you make potato salad next time,
try'kofukiimo', boiled potatoes that are dried out in a hot pan.
The potato as the main? dish is served with minced meat cutlet.

西荻窪で不思議なもも茶色の皿-Glazes Mysteriously Mixed on Plate

りえさんの個展の初日 はじめて作品に遭えた
ギャラリーのドアをあけて まず目に飛び込ん
できた皿 流れて、微妙な「釉薬」の風景
ピンクとも茶とも白ともいえない この「淡い」、
が、いい
私のホワイトマット釉(亜鉛華/チタン)も
酸化焼成で白に淡いピンクが浮く.......
共通点のひとつ、土が「黒御影/黒泥」
ふうむ

I was lucky to see Rie's ceramic show in Tokyo.
As I opened the gallery door, this matt glaze caught my eyes.
It's like a dramatic description of the coming and fading of light.
I put fresh vegetables on her plate for dinner.

呼ばれた気がして郵便箱-Is It YOU Calling Me, the Mailbox

「目が合っちゃった」 とか
「私を呼んでる」 といって、
土の作品を連れてってくださる

さて、古びた郵便箱(拾った端材でつくって7--8年)
底板かえて手入れ 「待ってるよ」と 新鮮な色に塗った

This big mailbox I made 7 or 8 years ago.
I changed the bottom and repainted.
Handmade things, I guess, come to life.
People often choose one of my clay pieces,
saying,It's calling me."

酒匂川のふるさと語る石ころ-Rocks from Mt.Fuji/Hakone/Tanzawa

「さかわ」が「酒匂」と知って
いつか、河原を歩きたかった
箱根から246号線を走り 松田辺りで、
河原におりた
鮎沢川(Ayuzawa-gawa----富士山東斜面が源流で
箱根火山の山麓を流れる)と 河内川(Kouchi-gawa----
西丹沢の白石峠が源流の中川川Nakagawa-gawaが
丹沢湖Tanzawa-koで玄倉川Kurokuragawaと
世附川Yozukugawa と合流)が、
山北町 Yamakita-machi 谷峨Yagaで合流し、
酒匂川となって足柄平野を流れる.......ふやぁあ!
ふるさとはどこ?と問いながら、石ころ拾った

I had always wanted to come to this river, Sakawagawa,
literally'sake-liquor fragrant river'.
I collected each different rocks on the river, asking'where are you from?'

箱根・噴煙の大湧谷から駒ヶ岳-Climbing&Collecting in Hakone

大湧谷(Ohwakudani)の地獄図?でもないが
那須や恐山、よりも強烈な 硫黄ガスのにおい
浴びながら 駒ヶ岳(1327m)をめざした
さすがに箱根は天下の険 きついのぼりで、
しかも 粘土、発見!大湧谷分岐の手前で わぁい、
白くねっとりした粘土だぁ!一掴み、
リュックはだんだん重くなる
檜の森からお中道、クマザサはらって 防ヶ沢分岐
ーーーアザミも痛っ!(佃煮のおにぎり) 出逢ったのは、
カミキリムシーーハイカーは3人だけ 周回はあきらめて
ロープウェーで箱根園→ バスで大湧谷の駐車場(アイスクリーム)
宿の温泉はめずらしく 加水(源泉60°C)掛け流し・消毒なし やわらかい。朝もはいろっ!


Owakudani is the area around a crater created
in the last eruption of Mt. Hakone 3000 years ago
-------the sulfurous fumes, hot springs
and hot rivers.
We started climbing at 10:30
and reached Mt.Komagatake at 1:00.
Luckily I found some clays on the way,
which made my backpack heavier.

2時間でナン・ピザを焼く-Flatten Nahn Dough into Pizza

4:00 PM 生地(強力粉100g+地粉100g+ドライイースト3g
+水100cc? 気分で押し麦・ライ麦粉・ヨーグルト・
オリーブ油・塩・砂糖少々)をこねる
4:30 PM 発酵 このあいだに、風呂にはいる。




具(舞茸+ベーコン+シシトウ)を炒める
5:20 PM 平土鍋に、生地をのばすのばす、
ぐんぐんひろげる
210°Cで15分ほどこんがり焼く・
冷やした赤ワインをぐびぐび
5:35 PM 素焼きした生地に、オリーブ油と
自家製トマトソースを塗って、具をのせる
5:45 PM 230°Cで15分焼く・具を炒めた
フライパンで、スープをつくる。
6:00 PM サラダの野菜の水をきり、ドレッシングで和える。

いったっだきまぁあす!
しかあし、カリッと感を求める旅?は、まだまだ続く.......
I am not yet satisfied with the crust, which should reach maximum crispiness.

土と釉薬のフュージョンの一回性-Glaze and Clay body Fuse

釉薬をかけるとき 木灰がコンプレッサーに
つまっていたのが、気になっていた
窯の2段目と3段目で焼いた
「盛り映えがする五寸鉢」に、なってるかどうか
いつまでも眺めていたいほど、表情が違う
「記憶の朝顔」
灰釉がマット調から透明調、はては天目風
いつもいつも「発見」なのである、ふむ

I have a commission going on at the moment for a person,
who gives me only the size every time he gives me an order.
This time 10 bowls---15cm in diameter and 5--6cm in height.
I've just fired 13 bowls.
Each piece is different in some way--
"Morning Glory in memory"
The ash glaze turned out to be clear
and/or matt with splashes of tenmoku.

ほんわりと白の茶碗-White: Lovely Warm Effect and Texture

土と溶け合った「白」は 色
であり、肌、でもある
窯の一番上で焼いたから とっても
焼きしまってて わずかな鉄分が、
ぽっ、ぽっ 顔出して、表情がいい、ね
「白」い釉薬は、8種類ほど調合している
これは、「白磁」と名づけた、珪酸質マット
ねっとり+すべすべ、とした肌合い
を求めた釉薬、だ

作者のY&Cさんから 無事に届きました。ありがとうございます。
お茶碗にしては大盛りすぎるかなぁ...煮物とかサラダとかにもピッタリです。
お茶碗だけじゃなくいろいろと使ってみます。

I make eight different recipes of various white glazes.
The'white'is consisted of color , texture, and body.
These bowls , which Y&C made and were fired on the top shelf of the oil kiln,
feel warm when held, which is exactly what I want this galze to create.

押麦かくれんぼハンバーグ-Rolled Barley Hamburg

ごはんに入れるだけじゃぁ
つまんない、んで、よしっ 朝、
押麦と湯・魔法瓶に
おっ、湯をぜんぶ吸って
ふうくりとふくらんでる
で、ひとつまみボールでマッシュ
ぷりっとしてるのにつぶすと粘る
+玉葱のみじん切り+椎茸スライス
+人参すりおろし+牛ミンチ+パン粉
+卵 +ハーブ+塩+胡椒、
でコネコネコネコネ.......
鉄鍋で両面を焼いて、完熟熟トマトをつぶし入れ
+ケチャップ+ソース少々... +オリーブ、
おろし際に、チーズをのっけて、トロリ
残った押し麦は、小分けして冷凍
つるんとした食感は、リゾットにもよさそう

I usually cook rice with a small handful of' oshi-mugi' or rolled barley.
This time I put a cup of barley into the thermos,
and poured boiling water in the morning.
I opened the thermos when I started to make dinner.
The barley was perfect-----firm, not overcooked at all.
I mushed some in a bowl and added all the other ingredients.
I liked the texture.

この夏の土石採取の
旅の記録・釉ガラス
レシピ==砂土石
Natural Resource 1:
福島長石 Feldspar 1:
合成土灰Fake Ash 1

城ヶ島・太郎坊 津久井浜・葉山 大磯・
鍋田 ヒリゾ浜・巣雲山 「弓ヶ浜」・
石廊崎・弓ヶ浜の砂がすてき
溶けきらない長石粒
ほどよいガラス質
飽きずルーペでのぞく
そもそもガラスは、砂を ソーダ(ナトリウム化合物)や
カリウムや石灰で溶かしたもの
天然ソーダを扱う商人たちが、浜で、
大鍋を支える石がなかったので,
積み荷のソーダの塊に載せた。
それが熱くなり、浜の砂と溶け合った
とき 見たことのない半透明な液が筋となって
流れ出た、という 「ガラスの起源」に思いを馳せる
I used 'local natural resources'I collected in Izu and Miura Peninsula
this summer as a source of glaze material.
It's always fun to travel, collect and fire,
and to see how unique each material is.
I wonder what clay object I should make in order to express this beauty.
