塊を乳鉢で粗く擂って
水吸わせ泥を指で塗る
あるいは漉して筆塗り

Coarse texture of the clay body
slipped with white clay is one
thing I'm concerned about.

ビスケットがケーキに化け-Biscuit to Cake

ボールをスケールにのせ
粉を計り、ふいに煮林檎
の小瓶あけ加えちゃった

粉を足してもゆるすぎで
方針転換、玉子と重曹と
煮林檎もう一瓶足し焼く


I was going to make biscuits.
Flour, sugar, BP, olive oil, milk,
all of a sudden, a tiny jar of
preserved cooked apples added!

The mixture was too runny, and
I changed the plan. Baking soda,
an egg, and more apples added.
It turned out yummy!

　それにしても農薬10回、って！

Cooked burdock, beans, lettuce,
hijiki algae, jako baby sardines,
and canned tuna dressed with
mustard, pickled ume,
and mayonnaise.

木曽の漆器、生漆に山の
「錆土」をまぜるという
鉄分を含む粘土、さび土

発見し試作し知恵生まれ

もしも土焼きはじめてなかったら
茶わんひっくりかえして底の裏を
眺め、施釉してない母胎の土触り
釉薬との相性思い巡らさなかったろ

If I had not been interested
in firing the earth, I would
not have paid attention to
the unglazed part at the
bottom of a bowl or considered
clay and glaze compatibility!

夕暮れ、まあるい月
さて、まずは「つゆ」

Dobin (pot) mushi (steamed/
simmered) is a clear soup
especially with 'matsutake'
or 'shiitake' mushroom served
in a pot and cup, so that you can savor
the delicate broth: inhale its heady fragrance
first, then sip some soup and pluck out
the mushrooms and other ingredients.

市販の「白御影土」
斑点は黒雲母らしい

ペタライト（長石）で
調合した透明釉かけた

Speckles in the commercial
clay are said to be 'biotite'.


ならば、と、白い粘土
（蛙目+セリサイト）に
瑞籬山（黒雲母花崗岩）の
川辺の粗い砂、乳鉢で擂り
まぜてみたら点々が出たね

Why not trying the biotite
granite sand I collected ?
I ground some and mixed
into clay (Gairome +sericite).

高台のない、平たい皿

手跡も割れも、優しい

The plate has edge cracks,
which are part of landscape.
They may be from the glaze,
or from stress during firing or cooling.

だった、ことを知っている
のは、山の石灰岩や大理石

道志村大室山の藍色の石灰岩
マグマの接触変成で赤大理石
（結晶質石灰岩）→

一関市の「石と賢治のミュージアム」
藍色の石灰岩の山と砕石工場あったな

イギリスの南海岸の白い岸壁は
チョーク（未固結泥質石灰岩）だった

沖縄辺土岬の大石林山の方解石calcite

ユングフラウ・ヨッホへの登山電車
アイガーのトンネルも石灰岩だった
アイガーは下部、明るいエールリ石灰岩
上半部は、黒っぽいマルム石灰岩とある

長石を溶かすアルカリ、お世話になってまあす

Calcium carbonate is a common
ingredient for many glazes, which
acts as a flux material. Thanks!

ほっこりとヤツガシラ煮-Simmered Yatsugashira

里芋と違い、どうも当たり
外れ、少ない/ない気がする

親芋が太る八頭
小芋が太る里芋
似て非なる粘り腰

Yatsugashira, literally 'eight heads',
is a large variety of taro.
Shave off the skin and cook.
Test for doneness by poking
with a bamboo skewer.

There was once a quarry here.
Weathered marble rocks are
surprisingly fragile.

青絵にじむ染付釉-Cobalt Blurry Appearance

釉薬が、焼成中、流れすぎ
ると棚板やせんべいにつく
剥がし削る、たいへんだが

What it matters is the glaze runs
off the piece during the firing.

いや、待てよ、なんかいい
景色、じゃないかとなると
このレシピもすてがたいな

　How glazes melt also depends on

黒雲母花崗岩と御影土-Granite & Clay

結晶がきれぇ、ほれぼれするな
黒雲母/石英/ピンクはカリ長石？

I was happy to collect this
granodiorite type granite with
large crystals of quartz, feldspar
and mica during hiking.


ちょうど猪口焼き上がり白御影土の
粒々は、硅石、雲母を混入、とある

ならば、採取した砂粒を乳鉢で擂り
白素地に混ぜてみようか、てことで
乾燥蛙目粘土とセリサイトに水加え....

This granite clay cup has just
been fired. I like the particles
in the clay: quartz, and mica.
An idea came to me.
How about grinding the sand
and mixing some into white clay?

土石釉と青絵茶碗-Rock Glazes

七輪で楽焼、のつもりで
楽透明(低火度）釉かけと
いた茶わんに、少しずつ
残ってる釉薬塗り焼いた

I have a little bit of test
glazes left, and so I brushed
some of them on the bowl,
which had been bisque-fired,
low fire glaze applied and
ready for raku firing(low fire).

案の定、道具土せんべいに
しっかり釉薬流れくっつく

タガネで剥がし、粗い砥石
ダイヤモンドヤスリで研磨

of brilliant autumn foliage, doesn't it?
