彫刻へっぴり腰＠藤垈の滝-Witty Sculpture

甲府からの帰り、精進湖線から
大窪鶯宿線で「ふじぬたのたき」
森林公園の33の彫刻、これ抜群

As driving back from Kofu,
we found this sculpture
(about 60cm H) in a forest park.


その名も、「屁っ放り腰」

The title is "Heppiri-goshi",
literally 'fart-hip', or
'hip stuck out' pose when farting.
It means 'backing away' from what
is making him unconfident.

山羊の記憶-Goat in Clay

I hear this piece of mine
happens to be in Holland.
思い浮かぶのは、いつも
絵本の「やぎのしずか」

The image that first comes to my mind
is the goat Shizuka, a picture book
I used to read with my kids.


思い出せないが、いつか
見たはずの記憶たどって
粘土玉ひろげてお尻から

I grab a chunk of clay
for the hip first and....

語りかける羊-Talking Sheep in Clay

なんでひつじ、つくりたかったの？
と聞かれ、ひつじがつくりたかった

How come is it a sheep that
you wanted to make?
Well, I just wanted to make one.


羊はあったかそうで
山羊はクールで孤高
そうなの？

I associate sheep with warmth
and goat with aloneness.
Is it true?

レシピの「玉子、砂糖、薄力粉、
サラダ油、同量」えっ、まさか！
玉子egg--3個(200g)
ルバーブジャムRhubarb Jam--160g
地粉local flour--200g
菜種油rapeseed oil--200→100cc
塩少々pinch of salt

30年もののマッフィン型
Every time I use the muffin tins,
I wonder which hardware store it was.
In 1977 we were walking up some street
from Fisherman's Wharf and dropped in...

即興で重ねた釉流れ-Ad-lib Glazes Run

こうしたら、どうなるだろ
って、つい釉薬の上に釉薬
溶けやすくなり混じり流れ

After applying glazes,
I often have 'this' idea
come to me "what if".


スナフキンに使った、マット釉に
透明な緑系と青系ちょこっちょこ
そうかぁこうきたか、眺め尽くす

Small amount of clear blue/green
glazes sprayed over copper matte
have melt and 'run' together.
I'll never get tired of discovering
minute changes in colors.

じゃこだし巻きと炭化皿-Carbonization

鞘に、貝殻、籾殻、炭
詰め、密閉して焼くと
還元炎が生む「土肌」

I like subtle changes........
various shades of gray to black
from carbonization (reduction) by smoke.

地球のひび割れ」つくった
I made "Earth Cracks" last month.

素焼きして、さわって
眺めて、歩きながらも
考えてたら、ぼぉっと
森がある、ようだった



After it's bisque fired,
I felt the surface and
gazed. I thought of it
while waking, and then
'hazy woods' vaguely
appeared in my mind.

灰色がかった緑釉薬-Grayish-Green Glaze

つやのない不思議な色
ドロマイト、石灰石が
海水中で変容した鉱石
調合、まったり感好き

Dolomite=CaCO3 MgCO3
Is a source of Magnesium,
which promotes matt glazes.
I love the texture and delicate hues.

For this type of bottle
I have applied white matt
or deep blue transparent
glaze so far.
But this time I tried 'the sky
and puff puff' on it.

This illusion might help the

ポタージュの茶碗-POTAGE BOWL

鉄1％のマット釉
ほんのりベージュ
かぼちゃとなじむ

安定が良いとはいえず
口縁もなめらかでない
うつわには添うてみよ

The bowl appears/is a little unstable and
the rim is not quite smooth to the touch.
you can't judge someone until you've spent
time with them, as they say.

粘土と指先の触感-Fingertips' Tactile Sensitivity

私の右手の親指は、かなり
そりかえり、時々しびれて

粘土玉のまんなかあたり
押しあけて、底を平らに
それから、周りの粘土を
他の指と伸ばしあげてく

While lightly pinching the clay
with the thumb and fingers,
we get very intimate with each other.

糠青磁釉と柿釉、そして
縦横に走る糠白釉、重い
ゆうに1.5kgはある大皿

あれもこれものっけちゃお

You may think this plate
is too heavy/large, but
try something unusual.

焼き茄子と備前-Yaki-Nasu in Bizen

へたの周りに包丁を入れ
ころがし、ながら焼いて
紙袋にいれて粗熱をとり
皮剥いて、指で身をさく

ほぐほぐと、ジューシー

The eggplant, which is grilled,
put in a paper bag for a while,
peeled, and split, is amazingly juicy.

During early morning walk
I saw a patch of blue sky
with some suji-gumo or
cirrus clouds in the middle
of the heavy rain clouds.

9ヴェジサラダ-Green Salad in Green Bowl

日本の「サラダ」は、1949年
12月24日、クリスマスイブに
GHQの宿舎帝国ホテルで出た
シーザーサラダが始まりらし

しかし人糞を肥やしにしてた
当時、生野菜は寄生虫だらけ
GHQ、化学肥料と堆肥を徹底......
1970年代中頃、ようやく食卓に

lettuce, gobo/burdock, carrot
water spinach sprouts, cucumber
hijiki, konnyaku, shell macaroni
