にぎにぎ、粉の水溶きまぶして
少量の油でころころ、六方焼く

"Un peu du bonbon"
Kintsuba is 'anko'
(sweet bean, sweet potato
or chestnut paste), coated
with a thin layer of flour+water.
It's typically molded into a square,
of which six sides are fried in a
lightly greased frying pan.

I am always looking up
to the sky through trees.
As I walk every morning,
the sky opens up over me
and I feel hugged.

おでんと佐渡の皿-Sado Yakishime Plate

なるほど、おでんは御田
豊作祈る田舞(たまい) が
「田楽舞」となり...云々

土味感じる焼締め似合う

"Pendant un jour froid"
'Oden' is a hot pot-- daikon (radish),
processed fish cakes, konnyaku (yam cake),
and more stewed in a light, soy-flavoured dashi broth.
It deepens in flavor while cooled overnight, and so
begin at least one day before.
The word seems to come from 'Dengaku Dance'
to pray for rich harvest.

つぶやく、人生は道草にあり

"J'aime la lenteur"
Rosa multiflora thorns prick me
and murmur life lies in Michi-kusa,
literally Grass on the wayside, as a
horse would 'dilly-dally' by stopping
to eat the grass.

豚生姜焼き豆腐丼-"Donburi" in Burgundy Bowl

なんだって、どんぶり
豚肉+絹厚揚げ+ネギ+空心菜
生姜+出汁醤油+みりん

"Le 'donburi' est un bol de grande taille."
Pork, tofu, 'negi' leek and water spinach
seasoned with ginger, soy sauce and sake
on top of steaming rice.
Donburi can be made from almost any
ingredients, including left-overs.

よくきたねぇ、と
火あびて溶け合い
ぎりぎり留まった
割れ、いとおしい

"Bienvenue!!"
I would caress the split/crack
in the clay body, of which
particles fused together and
survived the heat thankfully.

栗菓子と風の皿-Chestnut & 'Wind' Plate

食後、でも間に合う
栗とお芋のデザート

栗と甘藷と水、小鍋で煮る
柔らかめ、になってきたら
蜂蜜とマーマレード加えて
フォークでつぶし水飛ばす

After lunch I wanted something sweet.
I looked at the peeled chestnuts
we collected and an idea came to me.
Cook chestnuts and sweet potato until tender.
Mash with fork and mix in honey and marmalade.
When all of the water is gone, it's done.

My ceramic piece:13.5cm X 4.5cm /Le titre est "vent".

ズワイとワタリガニ-Why Crab Turn Red?

茹でると、赤くなる
のは、なんでかな？

"Comment manger le crabe"
Why does a crab's shell turn
red-orange when cooked?




タイワンガザミか
生は暗緑色らしい

「色素アスタキサンチンが
蛋白質と離れると赤色に」
養殖銀鮭の餌にアスタキサンチン
混ぜ身を赤くしている、らしい

"Boiling the crab shell denatures
the blue-green Alpha-crustacyanin
releasing the red-orange astaxanthin."

水爆に晒された、絵本-Ben Shahn

後悔、し続けなければ
ならないこと、がある

There are some inconvenient truths
we must remember and repent for.





1954年、アメリカが
ビキニ環礁で水爆実験
マーシャル諸島の住民は被爆
日本の漁船第五福竜丸の船員
23人も死の灰を浴びた

３年後、ベン・シャーンが
"Lucky Dragon Series"を描き
50年後、アーサー・ビナードが
「日本語」で詩を書き絵本にした

The Fukuryu Maru No. 5 as well
as the people of Bikini Atoll
was exposed to fallout from
a U.S. hydrogen bomb test in the
Pacific Ocean in March 1954.

Three years later, Ben Shahn drew
a series of paintings of the fishing boat.
Fifty years later, this picture book was published
accompanied by poems written by Arthur Binard
"in Japanese".

If you look through a loupe,

　　--鉄やマグネシュームが多い苦鉄質mafic
　　（風化蛇紋岩のすぐそばに大理石も）
　　

3. Materials only(on the edge of the pieces):
　　Some even melt at 1225℃.
　　What if I mix into clay body or use as slip?

いつか骨董で買った気泡硝子

"Mes haricots préférés"
Toramame, literally 'tiger bean'
tastes much better than 'just beans',
after cooked in a thermos
even without pre-soaking.

This tiny thing--- thick glass with
gold foil and air bubble inclusions.

山繭蛾のデザイン-Silk Moth Design

数年前、蚕30匹ほどいただいた
白い繭ができ、やがて小さいガ

ある時、桜の小枝から緑色の繭
ぶらさがってた、それがこれ？

「大きな翅だが、うまく飛べない....
口は退化し、羽化したら生殖して
死んでしまう.....」あー、ガ、よ

"Deux Belles Ailes"

One day I saw a bright green cocoon
hanging from a twig of the cherry tree.
It's "tensan" silk moth (Antheraea yamamai) .
They have no mouth.
They just fight, mate, lay eggs and die.

and this was it.

カップ「空ともくもく」-Cup:Sky & MOKUMOKU

そう名づけたのは
窯からでてきた時
クレヨンで描いた
雲みたいだったし

When it came out of the kiln,
I named it "Sora to Mokumoku".
It's a mimetic word for 'cumulus
clouds', like "puff puff ."


土玉、指先でのばし上げたら
なんかつけたくなって、「手」

のぞきこんでる、つもりだった
が、
なにぶらさがってんの、と寸評

"Toujours improvisé"
When I smoothed the edge,
an idea fell on me, 'hands',
like looking over into something,
which turned out to be the sky.
