ぶらさげてみたが、音無

There seems to be a long
way to go before a tiny ceramic
ball inside the ringer
makes a clear sound.


で、鈴、そのものにした
当たり前だが、鈴が鳴る

針金は、ひねって使うあの
平たい結束リボン（ビニタイ）
ビニール皮膜をペンチで
むりやり剝くといい細さ

For now I have to be content
with this Suzu or sleigh bell.

なんちゃって鋳込み-Easygoing Slip Casting

いつだったか窯業の町で
粘土や道具を買い揃えて
鋳型投棄場にさしかかり
拾った石膏の型があった
半磁器泥しょうを適当に
水でのばしとろとろにし
型に流し入れ乾燥させる


とりあえず1時間おいて
泥をこぼし、さらに乾燥

A liquid clay body slip
mixed with sodium silicate
poured into plaster mould.

Wait until it forms a layer,
on the inside cavity of the
mould. Pour off the
remaining slip and dry.


だいぶ乾いてきたら
パレットナイフ少し
差し込みすきまあけ
逆さにしてぽろんと

Turn the mould upside
down to remove the cast
piece from the mould,
trim neatly and allow to dry.

ロイヤルコペンハーゲン-Royal Copenhagen

そもそもボーンホルム島
(バルト海のデンマーク領)
でカオリンが発見されて
硬質磁器が完成(1773年)

浮き彫りの絵柄は青の染料
一面にスプレー、布や皮で
染料をこすり落とし明るく
さらに染料を吹き付け濃く
これを繰り返し濃淡が出て
くる、のだという

It says the history began when they found porcelain-clay
on the small Danish island of Bornholm situated in the Baltic Sea.

泥漿で板作り-Casting Slip

干上がった半磁器鋳込み泥漿
夏の間、水でふやかしといた

硬めにもどした、のを練って
かたちにするが、へたり気味
珪酸ソーダで手も荒れてきたゾ

I made a slab plate with
'casting slip' that has dried
out to become apparently
solid for an experiment.
It was difficult to handle,
and sodium silicate(alkaline)
seems to damage the skin.

紫釉のボタン-Purple Glaze Buttons

テストピースでいい「紫」
出たので、素焼きボタン
焼いたがムラ気に入らない
んで、釉薬を重ねて再焼成
うーむ

I guess I need to try another
recipe to achieve "right" result.

砂岩が溶けて釉薬化-Sandstone that Melts

いやぁ、どっきりしたね
採取土石砕いて焼成実験
してきたがこんなガラス
はじめてじゃないかなぁ
合成土灰も長石も加えず

I am excited that one
of rocks/clays collected
in Hokkaido Islands was
turned into glass(glaze)
after filred in the kiln.

土でネコをつくる-Making Ceramic Cat

まず頭部、をふくらませ
目へこませたその瞬間に
おばあちゃんネコじゃん！

I made a hollow head/
face, and pushed in the
clay to create eyes.
All of a sudden an old
female cat appeared.
So funny!

どうやら自分は気まぐれな
ネコタイプらしい、だから
なのか、犬人間が好きかも

I may be a cat person,
who they say is capricious,
and I prefer a dog person.

京都にいるころつくった
すーっと風が吹き抜ける
感じの皿にしたかった？

This is one of my few
tablewares with engobes,
which if not carefully used,
may appear too strong.

そういえば、夏のあいだ
火色皿、使わなかったな

いつのまにか煮物恋しい

I chose this high-fired
unglazed plate for
simmered Kiriboshi
Daikon(dried radish
strips).
It's already a good
season for simmering!!

土鍋皿でオムレツ-Spanish Omelet in Clay Pan

細かく切った野菜とミンチ
少量の水で柔らかくなった
らチーズと玉子、くつくつ

It seems the food tastes
better if cooked with
a clay pot than with
a metal pot.
Above all I feel close
to the primitive power
of fire.

土の違いをみるのにつくった猪口

10年以上乾きっ放しの焼いてみた

全体に吹きかける

筆でこちょこちょっ
浮き文字の釉落とし
青緑系の釉薬のせる

Bisque-fired pieces are
ready to glaze: spray white
matte glaze and gently brush
it off from the alphabets to
apply another.

浅土鍋とパエリア-Shallow Clay Pot & Paella

この夏、'土鍋'を3つ焼いた
ひとつは深鍋（ごはん炊き）
ひとつはこの浅鍋（7ｘ31cm)

This summer I fired 3 different
clay pots: deep one and
this shallow one.....


米2合軽く洗いザルに
水は360cc、うまく
炊けますように！
15分むらしてさぁ
ステンの鍋蓋とる
っと、わずかに芯
残しパサパサ感有
しかも底にうっすら
待望の？おこげ

It seems I fell in love
with clay pot cooking!

深土鍋でごはんふっくり-Deep Clay Pot

うぁ、立ってる立ってる
うんまぁい、おかわりっ

中火にかけた土鍋のそばで
耳をすまし、鼻をくんくん
飯炊きにこんなに手をかけ

I cooked rice in this clay pot
for the first time after fired.
Wow, each grain of rice
is standing by itself!
Yes, we had another
helping of rice.

昆布、だからごつごつ

駱駝のくち-Like Camel's Mouth

「馬」をつくろか、と
粘土一つまみ薄く丸く
のばしてハナからクチ
瞬間、あれれ、ラクダ？
「つくる」というより
「なっちゃう」んだな

I started making a horse
head, but soon the mouth
looked exactly like a
camel's mouth.
It often happens that
the clay forms itself.
