I began to shape clay

ポタージュの茶碗-POTAGE BOWL

鉄1％のマット釉
ほんのりベージュ
かぼちゃとなじむ

安定が良いとはいえず
口縁もなめらかでない
うつわには添うてみよ

The bowl appears/is a little unstable and
the rim is not quite smooth to the touch.
you can't judge someone until you've spent
time with them, as they say.

私の右手の親指は、かなり
そりかえり、時々しびれて

粘土玉のまんなかあたり
押しあけて、底を平らに
それから、周りの粘土を
他の指と伸ばしあげてく

While lightly pinching the clay
with the thumb and fingers,
we get very intimate with each other.

へたの周りに包丁を入れ
ころがし、ながら焼いて
紙袋にいれて粗熱をとり
皮剥いて、指で身をさく

ほぐほぐと、ジューシー

The eggplant, which is grilled,
put in a paper bag for a while,
peeled, and split, is amazingly juicy.

During early morning walk

with some suji-gumo or
cirrus clouds in the middle
of the heavy rain clouds.

9ヴェジサラダ-Green Salad in Green Bowl

日本の「サラダ」は、1949年
12月24日、クリスマスイブに
GHQの宿舎帝国ホテルで出た
シーザーサラダが始まりらし

しかし人糞を肥やしにしてた
当時、生野菜は寄生虫だらけ
GHQ、化学肥料と堆肥を徹底......
1970年代中頃、ようやく食卓に

”9-Veggie Salad”
spinach, radish, tomato, cabbage
lettuce, gobo/burdock, carrot
water spinach sprouts, cucumber
hijiki, konnyaku, shell macaroni

いつものように「空ともくもく」
眺めてて、降りてきた「帽子」
An idea came to me as I was
looking up at 'the sky and puff puff'
as usual.


そうだっ、帽子!!
壁にかけられるように
小さな穴あけとこっと

Why not a hat?
It has two tiny holes
to be hung on the wall.


ひっくりかえせば、ボゥル
アボカドディップ底に入れ
ぐるりと野菜スティック？

If you turn it upside down,
it becomes a serving bowl.
How about 'Avocado dip
with vegetable sticks' in it?

Locally collected clay slips show
a variety of color and texture.

ところが、どうだっ
透明釉と溶け合って
有機物焼けちゃった

When fired, the color is lost.
Some clays have a high iron content
and much organic matter.
Others(gray/white) have aluminum silicate
instead.

細い山蕗、醤油で煮て濃茶色
=伽羅色、で伽羅蕗、という
ゆうくり煮詰めて煎りあげて

The slightly bitter tastes awaken
us out of winter.
This is so appetizing with steaming rice.

宮古島の、島尻粘土
焼くとチョコレート
　150万年以上前
　中国大陸大陸棚
　河川の砂泥堆積、ふむ

かなりの鉄分や石灰
もう釉薬化している

Be sure to test-fire your dug clay
inside another bisque bowl to
avoid kiln meltdown disasters!
I'm glad I did!

to help food stand out, but for

maple syrup I tried colors
that blend in harmony.

我が輩はサカナ-Ceramic Fish

名前は知らない、けど
こんなような魚いるね
土から生まれた海の人

空洞で背びれの前に穴
がある、鉛筆？野の花？

I don't know the name,
but I think I've seen fish
like this before......unexpected
hollow form born from clay.
You can put a pencil or wild flower
in the hole beside the dorsal fin.

楽茶碗にビスケット-Biscuit in Raku Bowl

以前、フランス人の個展で買った
ふんわりした「楽」焼き、の茶碗

This is a Rakuyaki bowl fired by
a French ceramic artist.
It feels very soft and warm to the touch.
