種子島の土-Clay Viscosity

島粘土いただいた
粘りがない、なら
ないなりにひいた
が、切れちゃった

残りの土でそっと
厚めにひいてみた

A friend of mine gave me
a lump of clay from
Tanegashima island.
I decided to use only the local
clay, and discover the character.

そうかといって
カレーだけはどうしても
どんぶりで食べたくない
なんで、でしょうね

Some dishes normally
served in a bowl can be
put on a plate.
Strangely it tastes different.

とりあえず 「砂粒」
ペットボトルに整理
ルーペ、でのぞくと
珊瑚の破片と琉球石
灰それに石のかけら

The fine-, medium-, and
coarse-grained sand collected
from different beaches.
It's fun time to 'look at' the size,
shape, and composition.

凍った雪道、すべらぬように
林をぬける、ぽかぽか山の峰
まだかなぁ、と、野道さがす
あっいたっオオイヌノフグリ

As walking, I found some
blue and white Persian
speedwell in the field.
I was filled with spring-time optimism.

青い鳥タイル-Blue Bird Tiles

線で描いた紙、切り抜いて
薄くのばした粘土板にのせ
ワインコルク+針の道具で
鳥を、くりぬき縁を整える

The tool is made of needle
and wine cork.

吊す穴、ポンス、であける
明るい色釉、映えるように
あらかじめ白絵土など塗る--乾燥
I apply a white clay slip
to the surface to get
bright colors after firing.

素焼き、終えたら
筆で、色彩想像し
絵、のように施釉--本焼き

おー、飛んでくか

"Are you ready to fly south?"
"Yes, my luggage is already packed."

青花カタツムリ-Blue & White Snail Cup

素焼き、した表面に
水で溶いたコバルト
スポンジでぽんぽん

乾いたら石灰透明釉
はたして青の濃淡は？（BLOG3/4)

I was wondering about the
"hues of blues".
Cobalt Oxide is an extremely
powerful colorant, and so it
should be thinned with water.
I like it!

残りごはんパエージャ-Left Over Rice Paella

ま、パエリアというか
リゾット、といおうか
米の芯残らずべたらず

Yummy spicy dish with left over rice.
It's more like 'risotto'.
The rice should be soft,
but have enough bite to it
to feel the individual grains of rice.

ふろふき大根胡桃味噌-Radish with Walnut-Miso

米粒やとぎ汁で、灰汁（あく）
抜かず、一日水煮、白くない
アクは悪か？山菜はともかく
不味くない程度に毒も食おう

大豆のサポニン類は発ガン抑制
ゴボウのタンニン、抗酸化作用

"Nourriture lente""Alimento Lento"
Simmered Daikon Radish
(Furofuki-Daikon)
It's an easy slow cook dish
perfect for a cold day.

カタツムリと青花-Pottery That Responds

　 京都に来られるとのこと
　遊びに行きたいと思います.........　
　前に購入させていただいたのを
　今でも作っておられたら欲しいのですが。
　障がいを持った人も楽しめる器を
　と言われたのが忘れられなくて、
　手のひらのおさまりもよくて、
　お友達にプレゼントしたいのです........

10年前、ひとり旅で工房にいらした
ときの「カップの画像」うれしいな
同じ「ような」ものをいまの気分で
つくったら、のそり蝸牛、生まれた（素焼き）

I've sent out invitations to my show
in Kyoto. Some nice responses.......
One is this order from a person,
who has been using a similar cup
as this one for 10 years.
I don't want to(actually can't) duplicate,
and so I followed an idea
that just came to me.

なんか生意気っ

When born out of my hands,
it had some cocky attitude.

"Modification" "Cambio"
While being fired in the kiln,
it must have made efforts to
change itself.

窯の火で粘土が石になり
鉱物が溶け合い色を出す
と、あら、よくきたねぇ

''kaeru'' or 'frog' and ''kaeru''
or 'to change' are pronounced
alike (homonym).

発芽玄米マカロニ-Pre-Germinated Brown Rice

とは、なんぞや、というわけで
国産米粉「マカロニグラタン」
自然乾燥の玄米、1mmほど発芽
すると酵素活性化、するそうだ
"Farine de riz"''Harina de arroz"
'Rice-Macaroni Gratin'
As brown, unprocessed rice soaks,
it releases enzymes that increases
its fiber, vitamin and mineral content, they say.
As for the taste, you should try it yourself.
