松の枯れ枝から
「地衣」をはがして
色素抽出実験
スタート

lichen
steeped in
a 1:2 ratio of hydrogen peroxide and ammonia
just sufficient to create a stirrable "slurry"
of the soaked lichen

紙造形作家のFさんに
いただいた
「こうぞ」の繊維も

森だか岩場の地衣に
おしっこをかけた
ことで
発見したらしい
「地衣」の色素
リトマスも「地衣」
とは、ねえ

chemically related to
litmus (as in litmus paper)

三週間ほどすると
まっ焦げ茶
赤紫を期待したんだけど！

「媒染」はいらない、らしい
で、さっそく

in 3 weeks
very dark brown
ready to dye

usually require no mordant
as they are very 'fast' (permanent) dyes

冬のあいだ
天日で干して
柿渋の強烈な臭い
なんとかぬけた
布

薄めた
ライケンブラウン
染みこませて
森にひろげる

persimmon tannin dyed cloth
dried in the sun during winter
to make the smell go away

dyed with brown lichen dye
