唇のある水差し・フェルメール想う-Pitcher with Lips

粘土玉を、ぽん、手ろくろにすえ
親指、ぐいぐい押しこみ、深い穴
そうだ、ピッチャーにしよう

そのとたん、「ミルクを注ぐ女中」 が、目に浮かぶ
硬そうなパン、牛乳に浸してかじるのか
とろりとしたミルクをそそぐ
その腕の太さと、がっしりした肩
そうか、「すわりのよいふっくらした」ピッチャーは、私の連想だったのだ

I was starting to poke a hole in the clay ball with my thumbs.
I thought of "Maidservant Pouring Milk" by Vermeer.
Later I looked at the painting on the Internet and
I realized I always paid attention 'to the pitcher', which I thought
was 'big and round',
but actually this impression was influenced by her muscular forearms
holding the pitcher.
