「桑の実」パンを焼く-Baking for body & soul

一本の桑の木がある
手が届かない、ので
ビニール傘を、翌年は
ブルーシートを広げた
we have a tall mulberry tree
spread an old sheet on the ground
the mulberries would mostly land on the sheet
then I gather the fruit

くわのみをーーーこかごーにつんだーわー
まぼろおしー、じゃないのよおーー

ホワイトリカーと瓶詰めした
桑の実を、パン生地に練りこむ
私と粉たち
mix mulberries preserved in liquor into the dough
just me and the dough beneath my hands

りんご、さつまいも、干しぶどう、やらを
ぷつぷつ発酵させて、天然酵母をつくって遊んだ
こともあったけど、いまはドライイースト

バクテリアとイーストで生きものになる
the dough is alive with bacteria and yeasts

そりゃあ、もう、漂う香り、ったら
焼けてくると、香ばしくって、あったかい
As the bread bakes, the house begins to fill with the aroma of warmth.
It spells the word "cozy" in your nose.

外はカリッ、中はふんわ
the inside is soft, the crust is just right

3時半から、工房の灯油窯に火をつけた　started glaze-firing at 3:30 am
どうやら雨、13度 rainy　さて、パン「も」焼こうかな　would bake bread, too
